The mage the magic belonged to said it was inevitable but he plans to destroy the world before I waste away, so perhaps I'll die along with everyone else.

If I can figure out a way to stop him before that, then the world will go on and I won't.

I couldn't live with my last moments comfortably if I realized there was something more I could do with them.

Exactly.

Honestly, this Fleet has been a bit of a vacation. There are mages here who help with the pain and it gave me time to regroup.

I met another elf from a different reality who was similar to me, though she had fallen in love with the one who did this to us. We compared notes, but... Still no closer to figuring out his plan.

I know little of your world but you may teach me about it. Perhaps I may offer insight to help you formulate a plan.

Really? I could do that... I'd have to explain elves and magic and so much of our history.

It could be a good way to pass the time, but you should be ready for the long haul.

[Cyril does indeed share basically all of Thedas's history, what the elves were, how their culture fell. He tells Kolivan about Solas too, and how he uncovered the truth about the man he thought of as a friend.

It's difficult, but at least Kolivan now knows how he lost his arm and what he's been dealing with back home. It feels nice to open up to someone, especially when that person is someone who had to open up to him.]

[He listens to the entire explanation, watching Cyril calmly. It isn't until he's done talking that he finally nods. This isn't an easy history to say to someone, let alone someone you are falling for.

And Cyril knows his own now too. He nods slowly.]

So we are two who come from cultures that have been lost.

I will work with you to figure this out with the knowledge you have given me.

I am grateful for your aid, my friend. The only way to stop Solas is to think of ways to counter him that he will not anticipate. At least here I can listen to viewpoints from people he will never have the chance to meet.

[So long as he doesn't end up here.]

We can hope. This place has shown me it is possible for enemies to be brought to this place.

[Though it's so strange to call Solas an 'enemy' so he just sounds kind of guarded as he agrees.]

If Solas appears here... I am not certain how I would handle such a thing.

[He knows it would wreck him emotionally, at least. But saying that is admitting he has emotions.]

Don't dwell on that now. There is nothing to be done about it and you can put that energy towards other matters.

You're right. It's no use making myself fret over something that may never happen.

You know, I have some books from my home. Would you like to read them?

[Yes. That is interest in his voice. He would very much like to read them.]

I do. A friend of mine writes some of the most popular books in Thedas. He even wrote one about me, though he took quite a bit of liberties.

He kept most of the overall story intact, but the details.... I'm saying if you read it, most of the details are changed.

Is it story or fact?

Varric would probably say a little of both.

I would say that the book is mostly story, and it tells the facts of my life with the Inquisition in a colorful, embellished way.

So if I read this story then I should ask you what is true and what has been...enhanced.

And you can believe the general events.

For example, when the story says I went to a ball, exposed a traitor, and forced all parties to form a treaty - That really happened. When it says that part of me doing that was seducing all of the elven servants and then dueling a highly trained spy... That's some exaggeration. There were fights, but very few of them were difficult.

And most of the elven servants were too traumatized by all of the murder to be interested in my charms.
